Control of the education of our children should be at the local level...involving the cooperative efforts of both parent and teachers.  It is not the government's job to dictate curriculum.  Common Core is a good example of what NOT to do.
In theory, Common Core sounds good!  Why not have everyone learn the same thing at the same time?  Wouldn't that make it easier on children who move from one school district to another?  The problem with Common Core, however, is that the standards are too low.  When that curriculum was first proposed....and leading education experts recruited to study and implement such a program, many refused to support the final product for that very reason.  I urge you to look up "Stop Common Core NH" on the web.  The data mining and student profiling alone are enough to give every parent concern.

Ultimately, we parents should be our children's most valuable teachers.
