Got Representation?

Hi....I'm John O'Day and I'm running for the New Hampshire House of Representatives in Cheshire County District 11.  I've never held a political office before but feel compelled to run out of a sense of duty.  I have the utmost respect for our Founding Fathers....and find it disturbing to watch the liberties they fought so hard for slowly slipping away.  The bigger our government gets, the smaller our freedoms become.  I'm hoping I can help reverse that trend.

Having lived in both Rindge (since 2005) and Fitzwilliam (1991-2005) I believe I can best represent the needs of both communities.

I come from a family of do-it-yourselfers.  By trade, I'm a skilled machinist with 42 years experience.   I was a part-time police officer for 4.  I've rebuilt or remodeled houses for resale.....and operated and mechanically maintained heavy machine equipment. I'm a thinker, a fixer, and a doer.

For the last 21 years I've been the office manager of the Peterborough Veterinary Clinic, our family business with my veterinarian wife June Sailor-O'Day.  Those accounting skills came in handy when I was treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 308 of Rindge for over 5 years....and in my current position as treasurer of the Rindge, Jaffrey, Fitzwilliam Republican Committee.

June and I have two sons.....Shane, a college graduate engineer.....and Kyle, a Specialist in the US Army.   The pride we have in them was so worth the hardest job I've ever held...."stay at home Dad" while June was at the clinic.  We also have a new Golden Retriever puppy named Guinness.  Life, especially since adding Guinness, leaves little time for play, but I am a licensed pilot and enjoy motorcycles, antique cars, snowmobiles, skiing, hiking, and firearms.  I am also a Christian and believe firmly in the Judeo-Christian principles our country was founded on.

Please view my pages to find out what I am about and where I stand on the issues.  If you agree with me, then please vote for me. If there is an issue you would like to know where I stand on that you don't see, please ask.

Thank you for your time and consideration.  I appreciate it.
